Book
2018

Art & Crisis is the first volume of a series of books for ZHdK’s Master in Fine Arts. This editorial project aims to replace the traditional diploma catalog format with a theoretic approach illustrating the students trajectories along their graduating year. A tag index facilitates the navigation through heterogenous contents: academic texts, interviews, a travel diary, reproductions of works, biographies and Instagram feeds. The central part of the book is dedicated to the graduating exhibition. All referenced contents are gathered in a final visual index. Designed in collaboration with Nicolas Eigenheer and Noémie Gygax.

Artist book
2017

Published on the occasion of the Blind Approximate exhibition at the Château de Gruyères Museum in 2017, Strappato proposes to approach the work of artist Michael Rampa under the theme of strata, echoing his pictorial technique of rubbings and reservations. This book reproduces the exhibition on a 1:10 scale, reduces the works in black and white and randomnly redistributes the colors of the works. By keeping only the notions of presence or absence of pigments within the works, Strappato offers a new, specific insight in the artist’s work.

Artist book
2014

Edition of a photographic archive of the artist Anne Hildbrand on the occasion of her exhibition at the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts in Lausanne. The piece exhibited by the artist suggests a movement without beginning or end. The sequence of images, presented as a fixed structure within which an infinite number of combinations take place, is realized using a conditional algorithm, ensuring that each image is represented once in large in the book. Work in collaboration with Nicolas Eigenheer.

The Captcha (automated test to differentiate a human user from a spam robot on the internet) has the mission of being indecipherable by machines, thanks to protocols of distortion and scrambling text and image. The formal result makes it a language exclusively dedicated to the human being. All the Best consists of a Captcha algorithm hijacked into an email messenger service, a research documentation and a series of camouflage posters for webcam users. Winner of the 2010 Federal Design Awards.
